Personal Statement: I'm
Brian Q. Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist. I have an advanced certification in
Imago Relationship Therapy for couples and singles. For over
twenty years, I have dedicated my life to helping individuals,
couples, and families to overcome difficulties and build stronger
relationships. I specialize in couples counseling, trauma survivors,
codependency issues, stress management, depression, anxiety, and
issues relating to loss.
When couples come in to see me, they may have
problems relating to
getting along with each other, dealing with children and
stepchildren,
experiencing infertility, handling the aftermath of an affair by one
partner, dealing with extended family, etc. Some couples come
to help prepare for their marriage by creating a true partnership
that will stand the test of time. My goal as a couple's
counselor is to give couples knowledge and tools to improve and
enhance their relationship. One of the most powerful tools is
the 'Couple's Dialogue' of Imago Relationship Therapy
developed by Harville Hendrix. Through the Dialogue, couples
learn how to communicate and resolve issues in a safe, nurturing
environment. Each partner is heard, validated, and become
attuned to each other's feelings and needs. Couples develop insight
into the sources of their problems and how unresolved childhood
issues may detrimentally impact on their present relationship.
What makes this process so powerful is that each partner has
opportunities for personal growth and 'healing,' as well as,
bringing caring, playfulness, and aliveness into their relationship.
Couples also learn the latest research on the ingredients of
successful relationships.
My other areas of expertise deal with
individuals who have experienced trauma , codependency, depression,
anxiety, and loss. My goal is to teach clients various strategies
that they can use on their own to deal with these issues
Some of these strategies may include imagery exercises, developing a
new perspective on the issues, and learning new behaviors.
